Description

In the same nimble body, the RED Komodo Monochrome camera eschews the traditional Color Filter Array (CFA) in the sensor for shooting true, breathtaking black and white imagery while still keeping the global shutter sensor that makes the camera such a workhorse. Because the color filter array is removed from the sensor, the camera receives way more light and is much more useable at high ISO ranges without excessive noise. It’s fully possible to shoot at 2000 or even higher ISO without post noise reduction. Also because of the lack of a CFA, you’ll get richer blacks, slightly improved dynamic range, and a more natural and evocative greyscale when compared to desaturating a full color image.

The Komodo Monochrome supports all the same resolutions, framerates, compression options, lens options, and everything else that the original Komodo provides.
