Description

Born out of a need for lenses that were large-format ready, compact, expressive, and evocative, Tribe7 Blackwing7 lenses are all of the above. In their X-Tuning they are at their most impressionistic, with a wildly soft focus rolloff and edge falloff, they render things like skin and other fine detail with a particularly delicate touch.They flare with a strong wash of veiling glare with comparably little amounts of artifacts other than a slight rainbow-y lenticular expression, and a striking loss of contrast. On their own the lenses render an already low-contrast look with lifted shadows and a halation-esque highlight rolloff with just a touch of chromatic aberration around the edges, breathing reminiscient of some of the earlier sets of lenses available to cinematographers, and a bokeh render that washes into a wonderfully creamy, impressionistic blur. Each focal length in the set is of course designed with the modern mechanics and considerations that leave AC’s worry-free.They’re warm, gentle, careful, and fast lenses that are wonderful for an expressionistic production.
